About the Author

Born in the early 1960s, in the crucible of ‘High Apartheid,’ I was forged in the fires of rebellion and repression. Alexandra was my cradle and my crucible—a place of struggle and survival, but also of profound community, clarity, and character.

From the dusty, restless streets of Alexandra, where my story begins, to the chambers of justice and halls of power, I’ve walked a path defined by resistance, reinvention, and resolve. I was born into resistance, raised in the shadow of an apartheid regime that sought to crush my spirit before it could even dream. But I dreamed anyway. We all did. We dreamed of a free South Africa, where opportunity, dignity, and justice were the inheritance of every child—not just a few.
